THE CONTENT
Below you will find:
-
Multiple Choice - Question sets covering a range of Grammar and Parts of Speech. Each set containing dozens of questions.
-
Challenges - From Grammar and Parts of Speech, to Pronunciation and Spelling.
-
Pronunciation challenges include Tongue Twisters covering a variety of English sounds. Students can judge each other, or they may want to use their teacher to judge their success.
-
Spelling challenges are split by level using the six point CEFR scale. If using spelling challenges, make sure the student answering the question does not see the phone screen! If the reader is unsure of the pronunciation, they can ask their teacher, or if the teacher is tied up, they can click the button and they will be taken to the Google definition with the option of playing the correct pronunciation on their phone.
-
Look out for game specific challenges like the "Stop! Grammartime" set. You won't want to miss those.
-
-
Discussion - For a less competitive class, we have a huge range of questions split by topic, just to get them chatting!
To view the content of a set, simply select it from the dropdown lists below and the content will be displayed in the box.
TIP: When using challenges, make sure to set your own time completion rules. For example:
-
Each challenge must be completed in 30 seconds.
-
Tongue Twisters must be said 3 times as fast as possible. Teacher/Partner/Group/Whole class to judge pass or fail.

These don't have to be used with a board game. Of course these sets are designed to be used with your "Board Game Studio" and the boards below, but any of the content you find here can be used as a stand alone activity with your class.
Why not give them a quick set of challenges to complete, a quick multiple choice quiz in small groups, or even just a gentle set of discussion questions to lead into a topic you are teaching?

A classic strategy that originated in Germany. Not really sure why it's called Chinese Checkers. A great game for 2, 3 , 4 or 6 players.
Multiple boards available in the PDF depending on how many topics you want to include in your board game studio.
Full details and instructions are contained in the PDF document.
You can't go wrong with this one!
In the PDF you will find two versions of the game board. One is aimed at groups of three, one at groups of four. We recommend four, but do whatever works for you!
These can be used with your customisable Board Game Set, created on your Board Game Studio page, so you can cover any topic you like.
Full details and rules of play are contained in the PDF.
Though simple, this classic never fails to please.
In the PDF you will find six versions of the snakes and ladders board. They range from a simple two colour set up, to one with six colours. These can be used with your customisable Board Game Set,whcih you can create on your Board Game Studio page, so you can cover any topic you like.
A great game for groups of 3 to 5. Fast paced and fun as well as customisable to work with a number of different Englishable elements from challenges, to multiple choice quizzes, to taboo cards and more.
Full rules and customisation ideas can be found on the PDF, but here are the basics:
Place one piece in the middle "Start" space. Split the group into two teams plus one group member acting as referee.
Each time Team A scores a point, the referee will move the piece one space towards the right. Each time Team B scores a point, the referee will move the piece one space towards the left. The winner is the first team to move all the way to the end and into the trophy space.
Don't be fooled by the simplicity of this game. It is deceptively challenging and, depending on how evenly matched the players are, can take a fair chunk of time to complete!
As always, you will find full rules and ideas for customisation in the PDF document. However, here are the basics:
Teams/players start by placing their piece in their "End Zone".
The object of the game is for them to move their piece from their side of the board to the opposite side.
With each turn a player can decide to move their piece one space forwards/left/right, or they can choose to block.
If they choose to block, they must draw a line connecting three spots on the board. These lines cannot be crossed by the pieces.
This creates a very tactical and challenging competition. As with all of our board games, it can work with a number of different Englishable elements from challenges, to multiple choice quizzes, to taboo cards and more.
A simple but effective board game. Can be played any group size, but we'd recommend groups of 3 or 4. Students can play alone or as a pair/team.
The game uses four colours so you can add four different topics to your board game studio. Optional fifth topic if you want to use the black button for added challenges.
Full details and instructions are contained in the PDF document.
