Taboo

A classic game that we all know.

Students simply have to describe the word on the card without saying any of the words at the bottom of the card. This can be done in different ways:

  • Team game. Students describe to their team or partner and get one point for each correct guess their partner makes within a set time limit.

  • Individual game. Students work in groups but take it in turns to describe. Whoever is first to guess correctly, gets one point. The winner is the student with the most points when all cards have been used.

Use our QR codes to play directly on smartphones. No printing and cutting up necessary. Cards will appear in random order. If you're old school, we've still got you covered. Print out the pdf and get cutting.

CREATE YOUR OWN SET FOR FREE

With your Englishable Membership you are able to save your own Taboo card sets (up to 10). This can be done by choosing to combine any of the ready made topic sets that you see here (or even all of them into one megaset). Once combined, you have the option to go through your new deck and remove any card which you do not feel would work with you class. As always, QR codes will be generated so that your students can have your newly created sets on their phones in a jiffy!

Prefer Paper?

Sometimes we all prefer to hold a good old bit of paper in our hands, so we have created a combined PDF of our entire Taboo library. We would ask that you read the note on the first page before hitting print though. It contains over 500 cards, and that is a lot of ink!

Still want the PDF? No worries. If you are a member, just click the Scissors image. If not, it's free to sign up and only takes a few seconds.

Note: This document is over 80MB, so be patient. The time taken to open it will depend on your internet speed.
